it literally took me months to realize that this Louise Hopkins whose work I keep seeing all over the place and loving, is actually my tutor that I had a really nice tutorial with a few weeks ago
like seriously, I'm an idiot.
Anyways heres a few shots of her work - lots of "drawing" or "works with paint" rather than being a "painter." She never starts on blank surfaces and her work largely involves erasure or concealment. It's also ridiculously hard to read from a small photo on a computer screen. I'll try to add descriptions later.

traces of thought and intimacy
When NASA first started sending astronauts into space, they realized that the ballpoint pen would not work at zero gravity. A million dollar investment and two years of tests resulted in a pen that would write in space, upside down, on any surface and at any temperature from below freezing to over 300 degrees centigrade. When confronted with the same problem, the Russians used a pencil.
