no, maam

magic

remember in grade k/1/2 when you would all gather around parachute-like tarp, in all its rainbow glory, each holding onto the edge, and whip it up, lift it quickly above your heads, then quickly, quickly, behind you to the ground. sitting on it, trapping the air into a dome above you all. a magical, impenetrable tent of laughter, story telling, and coloured light.

on lightness and being

i have been thinking a lot about light and shadow (any artists you can think of would be kindly appreciated)

Olafur Eliasson came to me in a stumbling moment of library synastry. I was standing in front of several Tracy Emin monographs, trying to grapple with a difficult feeling (that I think I like some of the work Tracy Emin makes.) When just to the left floated a book Your position surrounded and your surroundings positioned. For now three projects to share,

beauty (1993)

and Your Sun Machine (1997)

much has been said about banksy; so much so, that i will refrain from adding much here,
accept to say that i still will watch this film,

i have heard good things. also, i am just plain curious,

a hundred million hand painted porcelain sunflower seeds

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, i have been in the turbine hall over a handful of times but NEVER during an installation, and i am so beyond words excited to see this next month;

BUT I also just heard that the public has been banned from walking on it due to concerns that dust from the porcelain may be a health hazard....

"the bible is always talking about destruction,
over your cities grass will grow"

anselm kiefer, anselm kiefer, anselm kiefer

he has a show on in newcastle right now and i refuse to leave this continent until i've seen it,
but, amazingly, in the meantime i got to see this amazing documentary on his time in Barjac on a big screen last Thursday
LIVING IN THE UK/A BIG CITY IS AWESOME

it contains very little dialogue or information and very many long slow shots and
is very breathtaking, very beautiful, and was very successful at peaking my interest

you can watch four clips from it here, but promise me you'll watch the whole thing soon

homemade by ikea

ikea has released a book called Homemade is Best
I know. this makes no sense. BUT, it happens to be a book with thirty cake and cookie recipes,
and no text. just beautiful photos inspired by japanese minimalism.
EAT YOUR HEART OUT:
i found this through this blog i sometimes love/hate; Things Organized Neatly

Box Piece, Yoko Ono

oh you,

I want to do a piece where I go to the Alps and talk to a mountain. The mountain will talk of

things which are necessary and always true, and I shall talk of things which are sometimes,

accidentally true.

if you live in halifax (ns) and you enjoy writing, reading or listening,
you should without a doubt be attending and partaking in the wonderful project that is
The Allan Street Reading Series, operating one Wednesday of every month at 7pm.

most recently, their theme was letter writing, for which Alison Creba (of city mail,
another fantastic Halifax project you should partake in) wrote this wonderful little piece
